May 9, 2007 MERRILL, Wis. - Sometimes gas can be too cheap. A Merrill, Wisconsin, B-P station is being ordered to raise prices.
Center City BP owner Raj Bhandari has been offering discounts to senior citizens and people supporting youth sports. But state officials say those deals violate the Wisconsin's Unfair Sales Act, which requires stations to sell gas for about nine percent more than the wholesale price.
The state is threatening a lawsuit and fines.
Bhandari says he's worried that customers will think he's halting the discounts because he wants to make more money.
